Hapa Aero Cu Coax/BNC
The Aero Cu Coax applies the same Aerogel dielectric technology as Hapa Audio's RCA interconnects to the S/PDIF digital cable application. BNC termination — the correct connector for 75-ohm coaxial digital audio, which provides a more secure and accurate impedance match than RCA at digital frequencies.
Why BNC for Digital
S/PDIF is a 75-ohm protocol. RCA connectors are not designed for 75-ohm impedance — they're close, but impedance discontinuities at the connector create reflections in the digital signal that increase jitter. BNC connectors are precision 75-ohm by design. For digital audio, BNC termination is technically superior to RCA for this reason. Most source components with BNC outputs were designed by engineers who understand this distinction.
The Aerogel Dielectric
Pure Aerogel surrounding the UPOCC copper conductor — 99.8% air. No conventional insulation in the signal path. The same dielectric advantage that defines the Hapa Aero analog interconnects applies here: the Aerogel eliminates the energy storage and release effects that conventional coaxial cable insulation introduces in the digital signal path, reducing jitter contributions from the cable itself.
Press Recognition
The Hapa Audio Aero platform has been reviewed by Part Time Audiophile. The coaxial cable hasn't had dedicated press coverage separate from the interconnect line, but the Aerogel technology has been consistently recognized as a genuine advance.
