Hapa Audio Ember USB
Hapa Audio Ember USB
The Ember USB takes a different approach to USB cable design than simply improving shielding and conductor quality. Hapa's eight-wire configuration with Teflon insulation introduces a novel geometry for balanced signal handling — the data plus and minus wires are woven in a pattern specifically designed to cancel noise rather than merely contain it.
The Design
Eight-wire configuration, Teflon insulation, with the signal conductors arranged to provide inherent noise cancellation as part of the cable's geometry rather than relying entirely on an outer shield. Hapa developed this approach specifically for the USB audio application, where the data conductors and power conductors within the same cable create interference that shielding alone doesn't fully address.
The Sound
Full-bodied and detailed — the Ember USB shares the house character of the analog Ember line. Musical, lively, resolving without being analytical. Not colored in the way many USB cables add warmth or brightness as a substitute for genuine resolution. The presentation is honest.
