ModWright KWH 225i hybrid integrated amplifier. 225 watts per channel. Output stage architecture from the Reference KWA 150SE, combined with a Class A tube preamplifier stage and the control integration of the KWI 200. One box with no compromises on what matters. Zero global negative feedback.

ModWright KWH 225i Hybrid Integrated Amplifier

ModWright didn't design the KWH 225i by adapting a conventional integrated amplifier. They built it by combining three things they already knew worked: the output stage architecture of the Reference KWA 150SE amplifier, the control integration of the KWI 200, and a Class A tube preamplifier stage where a solid-state preamp circuit had been. Then they increased the power to 225 watts.

The Architecture

The KWA 150SE's output stage is the foundation — MOSFET devices in a topology that was developed for ModWright's reference-level amplification without compromise. That output stage is now driven by a tube preamplifier operating in Class A, providing the harmonic richness, spatial dimensionality, and naturalness that defines ModWright's tube-influenced design philosophy. Zero global negative feedback throughout.

225 watts into 8 ohms. Enough power to drive virtually any speaker with authority, combined with the tube input stage's musical character. The integration is not a compromise — the tube and solid-state sections were designed to work together from the beginning.

Press Recognition

ModWright has been reviewed by The Absolute Sound, Stereophile, and Hi-Fi+ over many years. The KWH 225i has been covered as the integrated that makes the ModWright sound accessible in a single chassis.
