The PerformanceDAC Board is the practical integrated DAC option for the STREAM platform — a step above the Standard DAC Board, and the right choice for anyone who wants capable analogue output from their STREAM without adding a separate DAC or investing in the flagship PhoenixDAC Board.

The Engineering

A current-generation AKM DAC chip clocked by high-grade TCXO oscillators, with fully independent power supplies for the digital and analogue stages. Keeping those supplies separate is the right call: digital circuitry generates noise in the normal course of its operation, and sharing a rail with the analogue output stage introduces contamination exactly where you least want it. The PerformanceDAC Board treats them as distinct circuits from the start.

Gold-plated RCA output. PCM up to 32bit/768kHz, Native DSD up to DSD512. Plug directly into your integrated or preamplifier. No USB cable to the DAC, no additional box.

Who It's For

Two situations make the most sense. First: you want clean, capable analogue output from your STREAM and don't own a dedicated DAC — or don't want to invest in one at this stage. Second: a second system where simplicity matters more than ultimate resolution. If your primary system has a high-end external DAC, connect the STREAM via the PhoenixUSB Board there and use the PerformanceDAC Board where you need analogue output without the complexity.
