The Highline Bobby S is the foundational building block of SteinMusic's loudspeaker system — a compact two-way with a horn-loaded tweeter and years of development behind the horn-driver integration that makes it work.

Why Horn for the Tweeter

The horn provides a perfect adaptation between the tweeter diaphragm's movement and the air — the acoustic impedance matching that a horn provides allows the driver to work with far greater efficiency and significantly more low-level information than a direct radiator tweeter can achieve. The goal was not to increase efficiency through compression drivers, which can produce a thin and harsh character. Instead, the Bobby S uses horn loading to improve detail retrieval and low-level nuance without the sonic penalties that compression drivers introduce.

Years of development went into matching the horn geometry to the driver characteristics. The crossover integration between the horn tweeter and the woofer is the result of extensive listening evaluation — not just simulation — to achieve coherent, relaxed sound rather than the analytical precision that poorly integrated horns can produce.

The Bass Performance

Despite the compact form factor, the Bobby S reaches lower frequencies than its size would suggest. The cabinet and driver tuning were developed to provide extended bass while maintaining the speed and timing that the horn tweeter demands of the low-frequency driver. A coherent, relaxed speaker that doesn't sacrifice any octave for the others.
