Lumin
Lumin X2
Lumin X2
The X2 is Lumin's flagship network music player — the current expression of everything they have learned in over a decade of streaming DAC design. At its center is a custom discrete DAC developed entirely in-house: not a chip-based design, not a modified reference implementation, but a discrete converter architecture where every stage was designed by Lumin for this specific product.
The Discrete DAC
Dual DAC, one per channel. Discrete design means every aspect of the conversion — circuit layout, power management, clocking integration — can be optimized without the constraints imposed by integrated chip implementations. The result is channel separation, noise floor, and low-level resolution that chip-based DACs cannot access through their architecture.
The Platform
Solid billet CNC aluminum chassis machined from solid stock — not extruded, not cast. External dual-toroidal linear power supply in a matching CNC chassis. Femto Clock system with FPGA-based clock distribution. SFP fibre network input for galvanic isolation. Leedh Processing lossless volume. Roon Ready.
Press Recognition
The Lumin X2 has been reviewed by Hi-Fi+ and covered by What's Best Forum and AudiophileStyle. Reviewers consistently identified the discrete DAC as a meaningful advance from the X1's chip-based implementation, with improved spatial presentation and dynamic contrast as the most frequently cited improvements.
