Unison Research Unico Due
Unison Research Unico Due
The Unico Due occupies a specific position in the Unison Research line: it's the integrated amplifier you choose when you want the tube-driven character of the Unico circuit philosophy alongside a built-in DAC, an integrated phono stage, and the connectivity to anchor a complete system without additional boxes.
The Architecture
ECC83 tube input stage operating in Class A — consistent with the broader Unico philosophy. The output stage uses a BJT (bipolar junction transistor) super-symmetric topology rather than the HexFET devices used in the Unico 90 and 150. This is a meaningfully different architectural choice rather than a compromise to hit a price point. The BJT super-symmetric approach was selected specifically for the Due after listening evaluations found it well-matched to the design's connectivity goals.
Zero global negative feedback throughout. All Unico amplifiers share this commitment.
The Features
Built-in DAC for digital sources. Integrated phono stage for analog. Multiple line inputs. The Due is designed to be the hub of a complete system — streamer, turntable, and any other source connect directly, without an external preamp or additional boxes between the source and the amplification.
Press Recognition
The Unico Due has been reviewed by Hi-Fi+ and Hifi News, with particular praise for the integration of phono and DAC stages that don't represent compromises compared to standalone units at similar prices. Hi-Fi+ noted the BJT super-symmetric output stage as a genuine design achievement rather than a cost-cutting measure.
