Vicoustic Multifuser DC4
Vicoustic Multifuser DC4
Absorbers quiet a room. Diffusers make it sound bigger.
Treat a room with absorbers alone and it gets clear, then quiet, then dead. Music loses its air and the sense of space that makes a recording feel alive. The answer is to keep that reflected energy and scatter it, so it reaches your ears gently, from many directions, at low levels. That's diffusion, and it's what turns a treated room into a great-sounding one.
The Multifuser DC4 is the fourth generation of Vicoustic's best-known diffuser. It spreads sound in two dimensions at once, horizontally and vertically, so a single panel covers far more of the room than a simple one-direction design. The result is a room that sounds open, lively, and larger than its walls.
Design
Each 595mm square panel carries a grid of cells at different depths, a pattern engineered to break up reflections across the mid and high frequencies where flutter echo and harshness live. Molded from high-quality expanded polystyrene, the DC4 is light, rigid, and easy to handle.
This generation brings a refreshed look with softer edges, giving a wall of panels a smooth, modern, seamless appearance. Built-in holder ribs let the DC4 hang on Vicoustic's VicFix system, and VicFix Mini wall mounts come in the box. Choose Grey, White, or Black.
What You'll Hear
The DC4 restores what absorption takes away. Soundstages open up beyond the speakers, ambience on live recordings becomes believable, and the room gains a natural airiness while staying clear. Speech and vocals get more intelligible too, since flutter echo between parallel walls is broken up.
Where to Use Them
- The rear wall behind your listening position: the classic spot, where diffusion adds depth and spaciousness.
- The ceiling above the listening area, for a lighter, airier sound.
- Upper side walls, above absorbers at the first reflection points.
- Rooms with parallel bare walls, where flutter echo is a problem.
- Pair with Cinema Round Premium absorbers at the first reflection points for a balanced treatment.
For diffusion to work fully, sit at least 6 to 10 feet from the panels. Each box of 4 covers about 15 square feet.
Installation
On walls, use the included VicFix Mini or the VicFix J Profile 2m rail (sold separately). Ceiling installation uses Flexi Glue Ultra (sold separately).
Recognition
The Multifuser line is a fixture in professional studios and listening rooms worldwide; its predecessor appears in Vicoustic's installations from Germany's Mainmix studio to the Les Secrets du Son studio in France. The DC4 carries that design forward and is part of the treatment in Vicoustic's Waterside Vista listening room in the USA. See the project.
